EAN-13 commodity barcode

  EAN-13 general commodity barcode generally consists of prefix, manufacturer code, commodity code and verification code. The prefix code in the commodity bar code is used to identify the national or regional code and authorized in the International Commodity Code Association, such as 00-09 for the United States and Canada. 45-49 for Japan. 690-695 for mainland China, 471 for Taiwan, China, and 489 for Hong Kong SAR. The manufacturer code is authorized in each country or region of the commodity code organization, and the National Commodity Code Center grants the manufacturer code. Commodity code is used to identify the commodity code. Code authorization is exercised by the manufacturer of the product itself. The manufacturer decides which Arabic numerals to use as the commodity bar code based on specified conditions. The commodity bar code ends with a verification code to validate the correctness of the first l-12 digit code from the left of the commodity bar code.   

A commodity bar code is a symbol consisting of a set of regularly arranged bars, blanks and corresponding characters used to indicate certain commodity information. The bar code identification equipment scanning and identification is dark, empty is nano-colored. EAN commodity barcode, also known as universal commodity barcode, is developed by the International Commodity Code Association and is the most widely used commodity barcode around the world. This kind of commodity barcode is currently used in China.EAN commodity barcode is divided into EAN-13 (standard version) and EAN-8 (shortened version).   The coding of commodity bar codes follows the principle of uniqueness to ensure that commodity bar codes are not duplicated around the world, i.e., only one code can be assigned to a commodity item, or one code can identify only one commodity item. Only different commodity codes can be used for commodities with different specifications, packaging, varieties, prices and colors.   

The standard size of commodity barcode is 37.29mmx26.26mm, and the magnification is 0.8-2.0. When the printing area allows, the barcode of 1.0 times or more should be selected to meet the reading requirements. The smaller the magnification of the barcode, the higher the printing accuracy requirement. When the printing accuracy cannot meet the requirements, it is easy to cause difficulties in reading the barcode.   

As the bar code reading is achieved by the contrast between the bar code bar and the empty color, generally as long as the contrast can be met (PCS can use the required color. Generally use light colors for the empty color, such as white, orange, yellow, etc., and dark colors for the bar color, such as black, dark green, dark brown, etc. Black strip white empty color with is black strip white empty. EAN-8 commodity barcode is a commodity barcode consisting of a commodity item code represented by 7 digits and a validation character represented by 1 digit.   

The birth of commodity barcode has greatly promoted the circulation of goods, and modern society is inseparable from commodity barcode. According to statistics, 500,000 kinds of products in China have used the international common commodity bar code. After Chinas accession to the WTO, enterprises will win more space for activities in the international arena.
